High blood pressure is also known as hypertension in the medical field. This is a term used to refer the person’s condition where the blood flow’s pressure on the body of the person as it passes through the blood vessels is measured and was found high. There are many things that could happen to a person with such high pressure. There can be massive damage to the organs, which is why anyone who have been diagnosed with such needs to know the different ways that he needs to do so that the normal levels of pressure can be maintained and prevention of the very high pressure can be done. This is a very tricky condition since the person won’t feel any symptoms, therefore getting the popular name: the silent killer.

To be more specific about it, blood pressure is the flow of the blood as it passes through the arteries. This is measured through the systole and the diastole- the two values that has something to do with the parts of the heart. The pressure that is associated with the heartbeat is the systole. The diastole, on the other hand, is the pressure that is measured when the blood flows when the heart is in a phase of rest between one heart beat on to the next. The usual result of a BP is the systole on top of the diastole, for example, a reading of 120 over 80 would mean that the 120 is the systole and 80 is the diastole. Technically the measurement is with millimeters of mercury or mmHH. A common BP that is considered normal is that which is lower than what was given as an example above.

The greatest effect of having a high blood pressure is the increased risk of the person to heart problems, stroke, and the other organs of the body being more susceptible to diseases. This is also a condition that is not determined by anything or anytime; therefore anyone can have this. Once you are diagnosed with such, it won’t leave you for the rest of your lifetime and you have to go through regulatory medications for as long as you live. The real and only way to deal with this and cure you from it is through control and early prevention.

One of the sure fire ways for you to be able to control your blood pressure is through regular visits to the doctor where one of the first things that you will have to undergo is the check of your blood pressure. If you are constantly being read with a measurement of 140 over 90 mmHg, you will most probably be declared with the hypertension, unless there are other factors happening in your body. You should also be able to maintain a healthy lifestyle with exercise, healthy diet, and moderation of alcohol and stress. Think happy thoughts and eat well to keep you in normalcy.
